Since HCHS does not own or operate a shelter, we partner with both the Hendricks County Animal Control Facility and various pet rescue groups to provide opportunities for these animals to be seen by the public for adoption.

Pet Rescue Groups

HCHS sponsors Pet Adoption Events at local fairs, festivals, and other community events throughout the year. Pet Rescue Groups transport their animals to the events hoping to find loving homes for the animals they shelter. HCHS volunteers serve to keep the animals comfortable during the event.

Hendricks County Animal Control Facility

Approximately once per month on Saturdays, HCHS volunteers transport any puppies or kittens available from the Hendricks County Animal Control Facility to Speck’s Pet Supply in Avon, where they can be seen by the public for adoption. In addition, Speck’s Pet Supply makes room for the kittens to remain at their store, where they can be in public view throughout the week.

This program is not currently in operation. An update will be provided when the program is able to resume.
