Humane Education

Our Humane Education program engages a humane educator to visit area schools, libraries, clubs, scout groups, etc. to present programs for children and adults. Caring for pets, safety around animals, wildlife issues, and the connections between animal and human abuse are examples of programs offered.
These programs are offered at no cost.

Reducing Pet Overpopulation

We sponsor H.O.P.E. (Help Over-Population End), a low cost spay/neuter program. The HOPE Program is open to all pet owners. Several local veterinarians participate in the program for us. Pet owners must pay us for a HOPE certificate that they then take to a veterinarian on the programs to get the reduced rate.

Pet Adoptions

To help homeless pets we facilitate pet adoptions through a cooperative effort with Speck's Pet Supply in Avon and the Hendricks County Animal Shelter, we take adoptable puppies and kittens (when available) to Specks two Saturdays each month to be seen for adoption. We also bring pictures of the adoptable adult pets. (Every year approximately 2000 dogs and cats have to be euthanized at the shelter because they are not adopted. Many people do not know that there is a county shelter or where it is. It is only open till 4PM most weekdays and until noon on Saturday).
Our program gives the pets more visibility and therefore more chance for adoptions as well as informing the public that there is a shelter in Hendricks County.
We sponsor Pet Adoption Days at local fairs where pet rescue groups can show the public the great pets the have that need loving homes.
